They will come to your door and turn you around and put you in handcuffs.
But, don’t worry, it takes a few months before they can actually get to your case.
I would suggest you call the payday people and tell them you have about half in cash right now, and if they will settle. Get a receipt that says paid in full.
We don’t have debtor’s prison in the US. The payday loan company will surely tell you that you will be arrested cause that’s the kind of folks there are. Their collection tactics can be extremely nasty.
You can only be arrested for committing a crime and not paying
ones bill is not considered a crime. (Just a shame…)
But get ahold of these people fast because Pay Day Loans have such outrageous interest rates that it is hard enough to pay them back on time but defaulting and falling behind in payments can really cost you an arm and a leg.
It would almost be cheaper to put the loan balance on a credit card and get these people paid off completely fast.
No, you cannot be arrested for defaulting on a loan. You can be turned over to a collection agency, which can hurt your credit even further and, depending on the contract you signed, it’s possible that you could be forced to give up some personal belongings that would be sold to pay your debt, or your wages could be garnished to pay the debt.
My guess is that if you are patronizing a place such as Payday, you don’t have the greatest credit as it stands, so it is certainly not in your best interest to default on the loan. My advice is take a second job, have a yard sale, do what you have to to pay down the debt. Then make smart money choices in the future to build good credit so you don’t have to deal with loan sharks like payday again.
No, they will not arrest you for defaulting on a loan. They will, however, report the default to the credit bureaus. If you want to learn more about payday loans, checkout
I don’t know about arrested, but usually with pay day loans you have given some type of collateral like tv,dvd player, entertainment system & in most cases you can give up the goods vs paying the cash.
It is possible. You can be charged with passing a bad check and arrested. If you are not arrested, you can certainly expect to be sued civilly. If you are sued and a judgment is issued against you, wish it will be. You will have to pay the amount of the check, plus the cost associated with filing the suit & interest. Try to make an arrangement with the payday lender, it will save you a big headache down the road!
